Pattern review: burda top

6 Apr

Pattern: Top with kangaroo pocket

Fabric: Liberty Tana Lawn ‘Poppy-Rose’

Comments: LUFF IT (i.e. Love; borrowing the phrasing of Brenda Dayne)! i think/hope the drape will improve with a wash. one negative: wish I had read the english instructions on the website, rather than guessing/persevering with the german original that my lovely man brought home from Germany in magazine format.

Will definitely use the pattern again. While not the most flattering style (?maybe/maybe not) i adore this kind of top. comfy, moveable/loose-ish, but with nifty details (like shoulder pleats, elastic waist, and on the original a kangaroo pocket – didn’t have enough fabric for my version).

Maybe i look like a walking flower shop? personally i couldn’t care less. if i could afford it/really wanted to, i would only buy liberty fabric for all my tops, dresses (not skirts: new wardrobe rule: black/denim bottoms, colourful tops/dresses). Liberty patterns are gorgeous, and there is plenty of variety (small prints, large prints, geometric/abstract, colour variations etc).

ps – apologies for crap photo quality. this was a quick ‘happy snap’ taken while out socialising
